We had a 9 day all-inclusive taste of Kenya in march 2003.It was an irresistable offer from Neckermann Netherlands. 299,- €uro everything inclusive (flight,taxes;food,drinks…)After all these years (I lived in Kenya from 1979-1981) it felt so good to be back and my family luckily liked Kenya as well.
That’s why we decided to return in July and do a bit of country research.The first few days we stayed in Maweni Beach. Every day in this paradise is unbelievable : you buy fresh fish at the frontdoor, scrimps and fruits.We left by bus, to Nairobi where we picked up our rental car. Visited Makau’s place in Machakos where we were very welcome in their house and enjoyed our 2 days there a lot. We left their hospitality after 2 days to do some sight seeing. Lake Naivasha, Hells gate, Thompson Falls…We passed the equator and than went back to the coast. Saw elephants along the road, monkeys, giraffe etc. We had 1 night in Malindi, after visiting the hotel where I lived for 6 months down in 1979. Eden Roc. The pharmacist recognized me ! Tamani Jua was bit to luxurious for us, so after visiting the barber (Rik+Martijn) we spent another 3 night in Maweni Beach.Our July trip ended after 15 days and 2500km
